At one time, all pets had to be packed into the cargo hold of a plane if they were going to be traveling this way. The cargo area of a plane isn’t usually the best option for pets because it is typically much less comfortable than the cabin of an airplane. This area is not pressurized and pets may experience a great deal of fear and discomfort in this area.
On many airlines, pets can now fly in the cabin of the aircraft in the same way that humans can. These must only be small pets since they have to be put under the seat in front of you as you are flying with your pet. To make sure that you are able to fly with your pet, you must choose from a selection of airline approved pet carriers to find the ones that are the right size for your pet.
Since many airlines have different limitations in just how big a pet carrier can be, it is a good idea to double check the size of the carrier with the airline that you’ll be flying on. If you have the right sized carrier, it should be no problem to travel with your pet on an airplane.
